Appearance

The Pomeranian’s dark, endearing almond-shaped eyes will enchant you from the first encounter. With their fluffy undercoat and long outer coat, they are the ultimate cuddly friend. They come in different shades and colors: white, cream, red, brown,… to black. The Pomeranian measures between 25 and 38 cm. He has a fairly short back but a steep back.

They may be small, but Potties have surprisingly loud barks. That makes them excellent watchdogs. They are very susceptible to obedience training and therefore easy to train. A dwarf is also agile and agile so he likes to learn tricks. He feels happiest when he feels completely part of the family and is allowed to participate in family activities. Walking together, playing a ball or playing with a rope or Frisbee are his favorite activities. If you ignore a Pomeranian a lot, he will get bored and can start doing ‘mischief’. Still, they are perfect to keep in a flat, as long as they have plenty to do. Daily brushing is recommended but trimming before summer is strongly discouraged. In this way they lose their natural protection against the heat. A Pomeranian should only take a bath when it is really necessary. An average ‘Pom’ or ‘Pommetje’ weighs about 3.5 kg and is about 13 to 14 years old.
