Dalmatian dogs are originally from Croatia. A Dalmatian or Dalmatiner is a cheerful, inquisitive, intelligent dog who is friendly and sociable. Dalmatians have a balanced personality and are very loyal to their owners. They also want to please their owner. Due to their alert attitude, they will notify you if something is wrong. But they have no aggression so they are not really going to defend you against intruders. They also get along well with other dogs, cats and children. The character of Dalmatians is thus largely similar to how they appear in the Disney movie 101 dalmatiers being introduced. They are therefore very popular family dogs.
The Dalmatian is one of the most recognizable dog breeds due to its exceptional and remarkable coat pattern. He has a dense, hard, smooth coat with short, shiny hair. This pure white coat has a clearly outlined, evenly distributed spot pattern in black or liver color. The spots are smaller on the head, tail and legs than on the rest of the body. The Dalmatian body is strong and muscular yet elegant. The Dalmatian male is 56 to 61 cm high and the female is 54 to 59 cm. These slender dogs weigh about 24 to 32 kg.
A Dalmatian loses a lot of hair. Brushing his coat thoroughly on a regular basis can control this somewhat. Dalmatians or Dalmatians have great stamina and are good detectives. A Dalmatian has a tremendous amount of training potential and capacity. So take it with you when you go cycling, jogging or skating. Feel free to let him accompany you on a hiking holiday with the backpack or let him play along during a solid game of football. Dalmatians live to be about 13 to 16 years old.
