Character

The Maltese is a purebred dog that loves company. His sweet, friendly and playful character makes him the ideal playmate for a child or other pet. Maltese are gentle, fearless and hospitable. So they are not afraid of strangers. The puppies are very easy to raise.

Appearance

Maltese are small pure white dogs with a dense, silky coat. A male is between 21 and 26 cm high and a female between 20 and 24 cm. A Maltese has a black nose, drop ears and dark, curious eyes. It has a slightly rounded skull, short straight legs and a graceful tail. This cloud of white hair has a delicate and aristocratic appearance but is a lump of energy. So don’t just call him ‘lap dog’.

A Maltese likes to go for a walk, but an extremely long hike is not for this dog. From the age of 8 months you can take a slightly brighter walk with a Maltese puppy because his bones are then fully developed. This little creature is happy to live in an apartment or a flat. Maltese are sensitive to cold or hot temperatures. If you protect and care for them properly, they can live up to 14 years.

A Maltese does not shed and is ideal for owners with allergies. To keep his coat nice and shiny, you should brush a Maltese regularly. Since his coat gets dirty quickly, it is no exaggeration to bathe this dog once a week. Regularly cutting the hair out of his ears and nails is also necessary.
