The Whippet is a sleek and elegant English breed. Like its peers, this greyhound is obedient and gentle. He radiates calm and is always friendly. You can easily put it together with other dogs and cats. He is also very nice to children and visitors. Whippets are intelligent and cheerful. That means that they are often used as show dogs.
At Whippets, the males are 47 to 51 cm high. The females are on average 44 to 47 cm high. These aesthetic dogs owe much of their beauty to their fine, flat coat. This coat comes in different colors. You often see the brindle yellows in particular, whether or not combined with white. Black, black and white, blue and beige with a dark mask are also common.
Whippets bark little. Originally, these were poaching dogs that were especially good at hunting rabbits. Even during the moulting period, their coat is relatively low maintenance. A few times a day with a rubber glove over the coat to remove loose hair is sufficient. Good eye and ear hygiene is also important with this breed. Because they are so sensitive, you should not treat Whippets too roughly or harshly. They like long walks but like to explore. So it is best not to let them run around without a leash or run loose without a fence. These dogs normally live to be about 12 to 15 years old.
